You need to keep your Iowa State Electrical License current.

The Iowa State Electrical License requires a mandatory 18 hours of continuing education to renew your license for another 3 years.  IBEW Local 13 offers these state approved classes to it's membership at a reasonable cost through the Southeast Iowa JATC program. It is the responsibility of each individual to meet these requirements, so please do not wait until the final weeks before your license expires to take advantage of the classes offered. These classes have to be approved beforehand by the State of Iowa and cannot be setup at a moments notice.  Also, each license holder needs to keep track of the classes they have taken. Always request a certificate of completion because you may be required to document your continuing education credits when renewing a State of Iowa Electrical License.

Check out these State of Iowa websites for more information

Make sure you have received credit for the classes you have taken to renew your State Electrical License

If you find any discrepancies or have questions, please call the State office at 515-725-6147 or 1-866-923-1082 (inside Iowa) or you can email them at elecinfo@dps.state.ia.us

In the case you unable to take advantage of the classes offered by the Southeast Iowa JATC and still need credits, please use the Approved Continuing Education Classes link above for information about other classes open to the public. Remember, if you do not have the required credits by December 31, 2010, you will not be issued a new license without taking the written examination and paying any late fees assessed.

 Upcoming Journeyman Training Classes

The Southeast Iowa JATC would like to know if there is an interest in a Prep Class for the Block Test or for a Part A Instrumentation Class. Both of these classes would count toward the Iowa Continuing Education Credits needed to renew your electrical license. The dates, length of time and cost have not been determined yet, but if this something you would be interested in taking, please contact the business office to let them know.

We are looking for an individual interested in teaching a Prep Class for the Iowa State Electrical licensing test. If you would be interested, please contact the business office for more details.

Please contact Scott Bessine at seiajatc@qwest.net to inquire about any interest in future classes.
